The worst advice you’ve ever heard?
Maybe not. Please read on.
If you are a fledgling public company trying to build credibility in, shall we say a less that blue chip industry, wouldn’t you like to know that all you had to do was to whip out your Johnson to turn your falling stock price around. That is exactly what Cannabis Sativa, Inc. did today. They whipped out their Johnson and put their Johnson, in the person of Gary Johnson, front and center and named him President and CEO.
Please read the following release from Politico.com which ran in several papers.
A Nevada-based startup that plans on selling medical and recreational marijuana products named former New Mexico governor and U.S. Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson as its CEO and president, the company announced Tuesday.
The announcement came as Cannabis Sativa Inc. said it had acquired marijuana research business Kush as the company officials work to navigate changing state laws on marijuana and potential challenges from the federal government, which still viewed marijuana as controlled substance.
Gary Johnson is a credible addition to the board of any forward thinking company as a two term governor of New Mexico, Libertarian candidate for President and a successful businessman he certainly adds credibility and exposure to a small OTC company in any industry. But how smart is Cannabis Sativa, Inc to let his experience and skill guide their Company. Oh, by the way their stock climbed from $5.75 to $8.96.(insert your own get a rise joke here).
In the interest of disclosure, I own shares in this company and I am not recommending a purchase of these shares at this time. On a prior post(May 15, 2014) I identified Pot/Cannabis as a growth industry and stand by that post. If you can do some research and find the diamond in the rough the rewards could be huge. The market is flooded with less than creditable players and a lot of risk is involved but it is one of the only industries that will grow once through the inevitable economic cycles of the next few years.
Happy Investing!
